What to do when your goals keep getting pushed aside

- [Instructor] What a world it would be if we could focus on our high-priority goals all the time, but of course it doesn't work that way. Inevitably, there are emails to return or boring paperwork to complete. But if over time you never seem to be able to get to your goals, and they're always being pushed aside, that's a problem. Here are three ways to address it. First, raise the stakes. Maybe you're not taking action on your goals because they just don't seem pressing or important enough. You can amp up the urgency by focusing on the long-term consequences if you didn't take action. For instance, what would it look like in six months or a year, or five or ten years if you didn't do X? When you start thinking about your goals that way, it's often a spur to action. Second, look for patterns. Are certain areas of your life always pushing out other ones? For instance, there are definitely going to be busy periods…
