- [Narrator] Maybe you've heard the phrase MBWA, or managing by wandering around. It was made famous by Bob Waterman and Tom Peters in their book, "In Search of Excellence." A few months ago, I was talking with Tom and I said, "Tom, we can't do MBWA when the people aren't nearby." He said, "What's the answer?" I said, "It's leading by webcam." You know, leading at a distance is different. We aren't going to run into the people in the hallway. We're not going to see them in the coffee room. We're not going to have the chance to have the serendipitous meetings, serendipitous conversations. And everything about our interactions and our interrelationships with folks are different when they're remote. In a world of a remote team, we must be more intentional.
