What it means to be a thought leader

- While your brand is about what you do and what clients can expect from your work, your thought leadership is about what people learn from you. What ideas are you known for? To be a thought leader, you're a teacher to your peers and to your target market. A thought leader is someone who's is a recognized authority in a particular field, whose expertise is sought out and often paid for by others. The difference between just having a strong brand and being a thought leader is that a strong brand is about what people expect in the product you create while thought leadership is about the ideas beyond the product itself. For example, you can have a brand as a highly capable orthopedic surgeon, fixing broken bones consistently with care and skill. But to be a thought leader, you would also be someone who share useful insights.
