What to look for in other online information

- While news organizations often follow similar practices that make it easy to differentiate between credible and not-so-credible sources, it's more difficult when we look at the wide online universe. Fortunately, there are a few items to look for that can give you confidence in the information you're seeing or hearing. You'll want to evaluate the person passing along the information. You'll want to know whether you can find the source of the information. You'll also want to see whether you can verify that information. For example, if you're clicking around on social media and see a post that says there was just a dangerous chemical spill on a local highway, you'd obviously be concerned, but before you get overly worried, you should do some digging.
