- What do you do if you are not in a position of leadership and you have a colleague or a team member that won't listen to your feedback? After you've confronted the person about performance frustrations and unmet expectations, it can feel as if you are trapped. But you still have the ability to influence some change in your team. The reality is it's critical that you learn to give feedback and influence performance, even whenever you're not in a position of leadership. You can influence performance for the better in a few different ways. Above all else, you need to build a relationship. Seek understanding when speaking to the person about unmet performance expectations. Offer conversation rather than complacency.
