Why is feedback so hard?

- I can't tell you how many times I've heard people say they want feedback, and then when they hear it, they don't want to hear it. This lesson is about identifying some of the major reasons feedback can be so difficult to hear, and finding ways to reframe our reactions from rejection to acceptance. Not only can it be extremely difficult to navigate the push and pull between all of the contradictions society, our upbringing, and our environment tells us to be, many of us have a little voice in our head that can be really harsh. While that inner critic may have propelled you towards your accomplishments, it is also a big part of why feedback stings so much. This inner critic is terrified of feedback. It's reactive and it jumps to conclusions, and often leads you to personalize constructive feedback and discount the positive.
