You need help
- If you're committed to leading, it can be humbling to ask for help. But in any leadership journey, outside support is necessary. In fact, the best leaders rely on it. Support and help from others makes you better and stronger. So, let's look at when you should be asking for help. First, if you don't have the skills or experience to do something well, like when you're having a product problem or maybe a customer issue that you don't know how to resolve on your own, then factor in time here. If you could figure out the problem in four hours, but someone else could help you do it in 10 minutes, it's in the organization's best interest for you to ask. Second, if you are totally overwhelmed. We all have overwhelming moments in our jobs, asking a teammate for help can make sure you aren't making a mistake in the face of an endless to do list.
