Not all information is equal

- When I watched the evening news, the segments are broken up by advertisements trying to sell me any number of products and services. Yet, I know not to implicitly trust what I see and hear on an advertisement. The information they're presenting is meant to make me want to buy their product or service. In such a complicated world flooded with information, we need to know that not all information is equal. Some pieces are meant to inform us, some are meant to persuade us, and some are made to challenge us, and some are intended to mislead us. Pieces meant to inform us present us with the truth. If it's a sunny day, they tell us that it's a sunny day. If it's a piece of legislation being debated, they tell us what the legislation does and the arguments on both sides of the issue.
