- The inspirational leader is not just a good talker, but they're a great listener as well. So as well as telling people stuff, you need to find out what's on their minds. And this means getting to know them. Getting to really understand them. And that means being a great listener. I suppose really, what I'm saying is you got to invest time in your people. And that's difficult when you're busy. To put some time aside to just listening to your people is really important. And it has all sorts of benefits 'cause it makes them feel safer as well as making them feel valued. So listen to them but also act on what they tell you so that they can see that you really have listened. It's not enough just to listen, you've got to actually do something about it.
