- As I think about replacing fear with confidence, I have a very personal story which took me a very long time to share. So it is now 2017 and back in 1999 I was at business school up at Harvard working on a business plan for almost two years in the pet area 'cause I was super passionate about pets. And it was the time when everyone was working on new business plans. It was such an entrepreneurial spirit. It was the first big dot com boom if you will. And my business plan wound up getting funded. I partnered with the person who owned the domain name pets.com and we raised five million dollars from a VC firm. So it was viewed as this unbelievable success. Right before graduation we were off and running and I was going to pursue my dream. However, the VC hired a CEO which we totally knew they were going to do. I did not think I was ready to be the CEO and when I flew out to meet with her, which was literally three weeks before graduation, she shared her plans for the business which were…
