- It's common knowledge that giving is good for the soul. It makes you happy, gives you a boost of positive endorphins, and spreads joy. So I've always been taught to give as much as I can and expect nothing in return. So what you're doing whenever you give is you're paying into the receiver's emotional bank account, and people generally feel compelled to repay those emotional debts and find themselves in positive emotional credit. Then the way they're likely to pay it back, knowing you're a sales person, is by bringing you leads and references. That's something that can only end well for you.
