The psychological contract

- You do your work, you get paid, end of story, said one ever. From the moment you apply for a job, you start to envision yourself there, everything from the people you'll connect with, the coffee breaks you'll enjoy, the things you will learn, the career you will build. And in return, you envision the contribution you'll give. The energy you would bring. The commitments you will lay. Fast forward six months and you might start to refine these expectations in line with the experience you actually have there. And what about a year in? Two years in? What happens if some of these more fundamental expectations just aren't met? You might just find yourself readjusting those energy and commitment levels.
