- In a perfect world, the onus of confronting microaggressions would not fall on the person being marginalized. Yet have the decision to stay silent or speak up can be a lofty one. Addressing microaggressions is more of an art than a science. It's not an easy skill to learn. Sometimes the offense is so profound, it requires immediacy in correcting the bad behavior. Allowing the transgression to be called out and its impact explained while the details of the incident are fresh in the minds of everyone involved. Confrontation is not easy but it is sometimes necessary. On the flip side, I want you to know that freezing is also a common response. Just simply being so offended, you're at a total loss for words.
