- When people think of independent audit, they often think of the auditor. But it's important to realize that there are a lot of different people who support an independent audit. That includes people who work directly with the auditor, people at the company that's subject to the audit, as well as other external parties. As we think about the audit team roles, in addition to the licensed auditor, there's also going to be the audit support team. Those would be the people who report to the auditor who are collecting information, who are reviewing the financial records, and preparing their analysis and work papers for the auditor to review. And they're also likely doing some testing and sampling.
