Additional factors that increase risk

- There are physical factors besides just high temperature and high humidity that can increase an individual's risk for heat-related illness. Acknowledging these physical factors is important because while we can't control the weather, we may be able to control some of these additional risk factors or we can at least recognize them and then take appropriate precautions. The first factor is poor physical condition or just general health problems. These can increase a person's risk and they're things that are unique to you. This makes it important for you to take the responsibility to check with your doctor to identify health conditions that could put you at higher risk for heat illness and then follow the recommendations they give to you.
