- [Male] A 3D printer that uses filament needs its physical configuration calibrated but the amount of plastic it's laying down needs to be very accurate too. If you bought a printer from a manufacturer, took it out of the box and started using it, the calibration procedures we will discuss in this video should have been done for you. If however, you've modified your printer, upgrading extruder components or the controller board, you may need to use this procedure to calibrate it. The software that runs on your printers controller is called firmware and the calibration we'll discuss involve modifying some of the firmware's stored values. The procedures we discuss will get more advanced towards the end of the video and correspondingly less likely to be necessary for the average user.
