- [Instructor] It might seem like 3D prints with bridges or overhangs wouldn't work since you're printing in thin air for at least a short distance. However, if done carefully, you can get away with surprisingly large gaps and maybe avoid support structures. Overhangs are what they sound like are part of the print that sticks out over empty space. Bridges or horizontal overhanging sections of prints that are supported on both ends. But some forethought about how you design your part you can often create shapes that will print without any support always very little reducing the print time cost and manual labor. - [Man] The first rule for creating prints that don't need supports is the 45 degree rule.
