Calculate weight per square foot

- There are many times that we need to estimate how much materials weigh. If we're going to lift a bundle of rebar or a steel beam, the crane operator will need to know the weight of that bundle or beam. Some materials are ordered by weight and not by volume. And the weight of a steel plate or a piece of sheet metal depends on its size and its thickness. Let's take a look at each one of these, starting with that steel plate or sheet metal. Most products that come in sheets, such as corrugated metal or steel plates, will come with product information telling you the weight of the product in pounds per square foot. This means that once you know the area of the product in square feet, all you have to do is multiply it by the weight factor. The weight of a steel plate depends on its thickness.
