Calculating the area of triangles

- In the last video, we calculated the area of a rectangle, and I took a few minutes to walk you through the steps of making sure that our units of measurements match before we run the math. Just like a high school math teacher, I cannot overemphasize the importance of making sure your units match. Make sure you have a handle on that concept from the last few videos, because now we're going to speed it up a little and jump right into the formulas for calculating the areas of different shapes. Understanding the formulas to calculate the area of different shapes is important. Sometimes it's easy. In a building like this, every room looks like it has right angles, or 90 degree angles, at every corner. That made it easy to calculate the area of the utility room in that last video. Even the larger rooms are really just made up of multiple rectangles, so this larger office space can really just be divided into three rectangles.…
