- [Instructor] Now that we know what copper cables do, and how they bring information to different places, let's talk about the different types of copper cables that carry voice signals, also known as analog signals. Indoor phone cables are made up of usually one to four pairs of copper conductors in an overall jacket. Two copper conductors that send and receive the voice signals are identified as the tip in the ring conductors. The equipment that uses these type of cables are telephones, fax machines, buzzers, and bells. In large buildings, many phone circuits can be run on a larger trunk cable that has many pairs bound together. These multi-pair cables can have 25, 50, or even 200 pairs all together. A high pair cable like this uses less room in a particular area when installing, it saves space.
