- [Instructor] So here's a unique type of column I'd like to model. The type with the bell at the top. You see them quite a bit, especially in older structures. I see people will just put in a regular column and not model the entire top assembly, which to me is bad practice. To get started, under Families, let's go New. Browse to your region, scroll down to Structural Column. Click Open. Notice there's a few parameters already here. So let's get started by adding the cap size parameter. On the quick access toolbar, let's click Aligned Dimension. Notice that these are already aligned to our reference planes, so we got a head start. From here to here, go up to there, from here to here, down to here. Hit Escape a couple of times. Hold down your Control key and select both of these parameters, click the Create Parameter button. Let's call it Cap Size and click OK. It's pretty small, so let's flex that. Go to Family…
