- [Instructor] For physically based materials to function best, there are a few basic rules that need to be in place. Namely, working with the four basic factors of PBR or physically based rendering materials. Base color, roughness, metalness, and specularity. An effective comparison for the differences in the overall metallic properties can be achieved by noting the differences between plastics and metals. Let's take a look at creating these materials so we can really see the difference between plastics and metals when it comes to physically based materials. So what we're going to do in the material editor here or in our content browser, for that matter, we've created some really cool wood materials on our guitar. Now we want to address this plastic plate to this kind of acrylic plate and these chrome or metal pieces on the guitar, as well.
