Creating surface profiles and profile views

- [Instructor] We just learned about two different types of profiles that you can create in Civil 3D. Let's create our first type, our surface profile in this exercise. So I'm going to go ahead and open up our exercise file 0703 surface profile. We see in this drawing, if we look at Prospector, that we have a surface and we also have alignments. We need both of these to create a surface profile. I go to my home ribbon. And we can choose profile here. But another powerful way to create a surface profile is simply by selecting the alignment and then from the launch pad of the panel of the contextual ribbon, we can choose surface profile. Notice here it lists the alignment that we selected or we can change the alignment. It'll list all the surfaces in the drawing. And then it'll although us to choose how much of that alignment that we want to sample. And by default, it'll dynamically be linked to the alignment length.
