Creating view templates

- [Instructor] Once we get a view all set the way we want it, it'd be good to capture those settings. The problem is, we tweaked a bunch of settings in level one, but we have level two, three, four, five and roof to deal with. It'd be nice if we could just be consistent and have all of our levels exactly the same. So what I'm going to do, is create a view template. In Revit, I'm going to open structural four. Let's go to level one. We have the architectural turned on, and we have the detail level set for fine. I'm going to change that though, I'm going to go to detail level. Now go back to course. Now under level one, what I'd like to do is right click and create a view template from view. My view template will be floor plan-coordination. C-O-O-R-D-I-N-A-T-I-O-N, click OK. What we can do here is, we can set our view properties. Revit basically gives us another shot at it, but notice that there's already some built-in ones. We know this is the one we created floor plan-coordination. Click OK. Let's go to level three. It looks like that again. But now if we right click on level three, and we apply template properties, and we select floor plan coordination, we can click okay. And bam, it looks like the other floor. If you select level four, hit control five and roof, we can right click on these apply view template, floor plan-coordination, click OK. Now what I'd like to do is select level one hold down the control key select two, three, four, five and roof. In the properties, let's scroll down until we find view template for identity data. It says none here, go ahead and click where it says none. We can assign these all floor plan coordination. So select floor plan coordination, click OK. Now notice that we cannot change the scale. We can't change the view level. We can't change our graphics, which means that this is pinned down to floor plan coordination. So if we wanted to change something on all of our levels we'd have to go to this view template. You can either click here and modify it. Or if you go to view, view templates if we click the drop down here, we can manage view templates. Now there's going to be a bunch here because Revit knew to just filter on floor plans when we were in a floor plan. So if you click floor plan coordination and if you change anything here it will change all of your levels. Also, if you uncheck include, say for example, we don't want the view scale affected. We can just unclick that. Now if we click OK, the scale can be edited but nothing else can be. So now I'm just going to hit escape a couple of times I'm going to save my model and that's it. That's how you can control your views globally.
