- [Instructor] In our previous courses we talked about the factors that determine what we charge for labor. The same principles apply here but it's important to remember that some change order work is not done coincidentally or at the same time as most of the construction work. I like to call this fragmented work. That's to say basically that change order labor is usually less efficient than normal construction work and should be priced accordingly. Sometimes the additional work needs to be accomplished off hours to accommodate other trades, other work, or the building occupation. Other times it's required because of the lack of labor availability. Be certain to know what labor rate to use and, if you're not sure, request more information from the owner or customer. Many times change order work involves altering work that is already in place.
