- [Instructor] You might be considering using distributed manufacturing in your operations. This might involve just a few printers that you own, or you may leverage thousands owned by your contractors or the general public. This is different from having a large number of 3D printers in one place under your control. How elaborate your controls on the process have to be obviously depends on your product and its use. - [Instructor] The first question will be whether you can 3D print parts of interest at all. You'll need to ask whether there are 3D printable materials that will be functionally equivalent to your regular part. Perhaps you have far-flung staff who need to collaborate on prototype designs. Having everyone on the team able to print out and potentially modify a prototype saves on the time and cost of shipping.
