Empowerment of the field personnel

- A key component that's necessary in the implementation of the theory of lean production is the training and empowerment of field personnel, so they can optimize interactions and hand offs between trades. This is very different thinking when compared to the traditional way of managing in construction. Just the simple concept of optimizing interactions and hand offs between trades is often foreign to many field managers, as they're typically trained and encouraged to stay focused on their activity, their speed and completion of their task. Trades, while accustomed to bumping up against one another are not typically encouraged to understand how their actions affect each other. And hand offs between trades has always been the job of the general contractor's project management personnel.
