Establishing a career plan

- [Instructor] When we talk about BIM management, there's really a wide variety of different roles within an organization that we can have. Some of those potential BIM management careers include CAD manager, BIM coordinator, BIM manager, VDC coordinator, VDC manager, the VDC or BIM director, as well as the chief technology officer. Now, for the purposes of our discussion I'm gonna leave the CTO, the chief technology officer, out of this discussion. And the reason is is that once you reach that level, you're no longer really managing BIM as much as you're managing such things as your office networks, email systems, storage. You'll be managing budgets throughout the organization, a wide of variety of things related to upper management of IT, and that's not really what this course is focusing on. We want to focus on all those different BIM tasks. So let's get started looking at all those different areas, from CAD manager down to the VDC-slash-BIM director.
