- [Woman] Independent automotive after market businesses create custom parts for cars. They largely create unique or small numbers of parts, which is a natural fit for additive manufacturing. Since this is a direct-to-consumer business, cost is important too. This movie will use a case study of a small design studio, Casale Design LLC, and their use as a filament-based additive manufacturing in this market. - [Man] Sometimes, after market parts are needed for classic cars, because the original parts are no longer being produced, or at least are hard to find. In that case, the choice might be between a junkyard or a custom part. In other cases, the original look of the car might not be what the owner wants. Then they'll go to a custom after market shop to make the changes they desire. Automotive classic parts are often complex shapes, and so are a good fit for 3D printing.
