- [Narrator] You've probably had the experience that your 3D printer's nozzle will keep moving, but nothing comes out. This is often accompanied by a clicking sound from your extruder is the motor loses torque and skips backwards. This can be caused by a clog in the nozzle, but it's more likely to be caused by a filament jam. Jams happen when the unmelted filament encounters too much friction and stops extruding. They can also be caused by your filament's diameter getting too large to fit through the printer. Since this is the simplest thing to fix, check for that first by using calipers to measure your filament diameter. Be sure to measure in multiple directions in case the filament isn't circular.
