- [Instructor] I'm often asked if you need an education to be a storyboard artist. No, you don't. Now, I'm not saying don't get an education. An education is great to have, but let's really take a look at it. First of all, your grades do not matter whatsoever. I've never been asked about my grades and I've never asked anyone else about theirs. When picking a school, let's take a look at why you would choose a particular school. And the thing I learned is something I was never taught, which is pick a school where you're going to make the best contacts. And really I'm talking about the people you go to school with. So for instance, if you go to a film school like UCLA or CalArts or NYU, so many of the students that you become friends with and have contact with are going to go into the industry and probably have parents or family in the industry. They're going to be great contacts for you as you move on in your career.…
