- [Instructor] You may need to get additional material or subcontractor quotations for the change order. Be sure to emphasize to your vendors and subs the timing that is required for this work so they may include additional pricing to expedite the delivery of the material or the work, if needed, to keep the project on schedule. Get written quotations from your material suppliers or subcontractors. It's very likely that your customer will request these quotations as part of the backup or proof of your pricing for the change order. Unlike the competitive nature of a normal construction bid or proposal, you may decide to stick with the material vendors or subcontractors you're currently using on this project. They're already familiar with the materials and the methods that are being used. And that will help in maintaining uniformity and eliminate some confusion by adding new subcontractors or vendors.
