- [Instructor] When consumer 3D printers first came on the scene, many people thought that every home would have one and would print what they needed. Physical goods could be distributed as downloadable files, just like music and movies. However, the quality and materials are still limited. And the printing process is more than most people want to deal with for routine purchases. For business purposes, though, now that printers have dropped so much in price, does it make sense to send every employee or client a 3D printer and distribute files instead of mailing around physical things? - [Instructor] This has a different set of issues from having many small printers in your facility. Printers need to be calibrated and maintained, and filament needs to be shipped around to everyone. Staff needs to be trained, and tech support provided.
