- [Teacher] According to the World Green Building Council, a green building is a building that in its design, construction, or operation reduces or eliminates negative impacts and can create positive impacts on our climate and natural environment. Green buildings preserve precious natural resources and improve our quality of life. A green building is designed, built, and operated based on a systems thinking approach, looking at a combination of systems as a whole rather than finding limited solutions in its individual components. What makes a building green is not just one aspect of a green building, but combining various strategies and solutions such as efficient use of energy, water, and materials, use of renewable energy and materials, good indoor environmental quality, use of sustainable materials with the least negative impact on the environment and occupants, and a holistic site design that makes good use of the site…
