Leaders and managers

- [Instructor] There are two types of BIM manager roles. There are leaders and then there are managers. Managers are managers of data, of process, content, and the support of users and projects on an on-demand basis. These individuals are normally reactive instead of proactive in their day-to-day project work. Then there are leaders. Leaders examine issues and proactively create solutions that enhance the value produced by employees. They create solutions that will result in reduced risk and increased profit margins for their firm. But I believe that a good BIM manager is actually both of these roles, a leader and a manager. While they address day-to-day issues, they set time aside to enhance their own knowledge of their industry, their employees, and the goals of their firm, then they proactively gain support for improvements and implement those improvements before they are needed on the next project. At this point, they're no longer just managing issues. They are leading the firm in a better direction.
