- [Woman] Digital manufacturing in general, 3D printing, CNC machining, laser cutting, and so on, requires a mix of computer skills and physical intuition. If you've been manufacturing in ways that either had no software component at all, or that separated design and physical manufacturing into two very distinct jobs, you might have some catching up to do. We'll focus in this movie on filament-based 3D printers as well as printers that use liquid resin. Training for the powder-based and (indistinct) resin machines is likely to be more formal and provided by your manufacturer along with the maintenance contract. You'll be able to see what the commitment is when you work out your contract with the manufacturer. In general, when a part's designed for 3D printing, the designer has to be aware of the details of the technology being used.
