Live action vs. animation storyboards

- There are two main styles of storyboards, live action and animation. Now live action, like you see here, includes movies, TV shows, commercials, theme parks, really anything with live actors. Now animation, like this sample, can include any kind of production that's either drawn by hand, like Bugs Bunny or the Simpsons, or created in a computer like Pixar movies. Most Story Artists will specialize in one or the other, because there are a number of differences between the two styles. So, for live action. One of the first things to realize is that directors of live action don't want to see cartoony faces, cartoony characters. So, work on your realistic style of drawing. Another thing to keep in mind is that numbering is different in live action. We do scenes, shots and panels.
