- [Instructor] We noted back in chapter one of this course that when working in a compositing-based pipeline, having access to tools that can be used to almost automatically isolate the various parts or portions of a rendered image could and would be a critical part of making the whole process successful and so in this video, we are going to take a look at some of those tools in V-Ray Next, starting in this video with the concept of ID-based maps. Now, in V-Ray Next for SketchUp, we actually have three ID tags with which we can work. These being the material, object and render ID options, all of which, whilst working in a similar way, can produce decidedly different matte results for us. So material IDs, for instance, will produce a render element that creates mattes based specifically on the materials assigned in the scene.
