Neutron radiography

- [Instructor] Neutron radiography is a non-destructive imaging technique which is similar to the x-ray but with some key and important differences. A key difference of neutron radiography is that it is very well suited at visualizing the internal characteristics of your composite layout, not just seeing the basic structure like an x-ray. It does a better job than an x-ray at creating images that show more detail of the inner characteristics of your composite panels. This happens because of the lack of a charge on the neutron. A neutron beam from a reactor is able to penetrate matter easily. Again, somewhat like x-rays are able to pass through materials of varying densities. However, contrary to x-rays, neutrons are sensitive to light elements such as hydrogen, lithium, boron, and carbon.
