- Let's look at the different types of offices and the role of the architect in their design. There can be an entire office building or even a campus for a very large organization, such as LinkedIn, or an office that is smaller and occupies only a floor or several spaces in an existing building. In either case, it's the role of the architect to combine the architectural shell with the way people and organizations operate inside of them to best achieve their company goals and bottom line. In planning large office complexes, there are many players involved in the decision making process. The planning, financing, and visioning of the project can take a long time, even before the design process can even begin.
