One of the leading causes of time away from work

- No workplace is immune from slips, trips, and falls. Some sites are more likely to have hazards than others. Construction sites and manufacturing plants come to mind, but warehouses, offices, and even retail stores all have hazards that can result in slips, trips, and falls If we don't recognize those hazards and work to mitigate them. Slips, trips, and short falls from two meters or less are a leading cause of injuries in the workplace and one of the most frequent causes of lost-time injuries. These types of falls may not always result in the fatalities that we think of when we talk about falls from heights, but they still often end up causing injuries that are serious enough to require medical treatment and time off work. Slips and trips can also result in back injuries which can be very costly and require a significant amount of recovery time. Now, I know some people look at these kinds of hazards as being minor or minimal with the thought being, you know what, I'm not going to slip and fall or I'm not going to trip over that. And odds are, you might be right. But the thing about playing the odds is that eventually you're going to lose. So join me here in my safety and health course on LinkedIn Learning and learn about how to recognize and mitigate those slip and trip hazards in your workplace and even in your home.
