- [Woman] There are many models of 3D printer but all the printers that use filament have the same basic parts. In this course, we're going to be talking about how to figure out why a print is turning out badly. To understand what we're talking about, you'll need to know what the parts of a 3D printer are called. We'll go over all that in this movie. - [Man] Two fundamental categories of printer are the Cartesian and the non-Cartesian. Here we see a Cartesian printer. It is now moving in the X axis, now in the Y, and finally in the vertical Z dimension. Be sure to remember that Z is the vertical direction and that Z equals zero is typically viewed as a surface of the platform. This is also a Cartesian printer but the axes are arranged differently. In this case, the platform moves vertically and the X and Y axes use a combined mechanism. Here we see the platform moving up to get to the zero position, then X and Y…
