- [Instructor] If a print doesn't stick to the platform, it'll fall over or possibly even fall off the printer completely. Either way, the print will be ruined and the material used to that point will be wasted. On the other hand, if a print sticks too well, you might break it getting it off the platform, or you might damage the print bed itself. To walk the line between those two extremes, people using filament printers use tape or spread glue on their build platforms. These surfaces need to be refreshed periodically, but doing so is much faster and cheaper than replacing a more permanent build surface. Whether you want to use tape or glue stick depends on several things. Tape will typically be multi-use, but is a bigger job to replace completely.
