- [Female Narrator] If too much or too little filament is being extruded from the nozzle, the print will reflect this. There are quite a few things that can look like over or under extrusion. The things that can cause over extrusion, which is putting out too much plastic, are a subset of things that can also cause under extrusion, so we'll talk about over extrusion first. When the printer is over extruding, it'll attempt to pack more material into a space than it should. This can result in prints that look blobby, like this one, or it can cause prints to be a little too large and all external dimensions have any holes be too small, or prints can wind up with ridges sticking up from their top surfaces. Over extrusion can also cause prints to fail to complete. This can occur if excess pressure causes a failure in the extruder.
