- [Instructor] Normally a 3D printer builds objects up from a bare platform using only the print material. However, some users are experimenting with incorporating fabric into their prints as they're being printed. This can allow you to create mixed materials with unusual properties or effects for costuming or applications requiring more flexibility than you can get from a plastic 3D print. For example, if you want to make a print that needs a hinge, a fabric hinge might be more durable than a printed living hinge. 3D printing onto fabric can also produce very interesting textures, like these dragon scale costume elements. The fabric flexes, which makes the scales appear to flow as they're moved.
