- In this course I'll focus on reading civil construction drawings or blueprints. However, I do want to take a minute or two to point out that on most projects there will also be another set of construction documents called the project specifications. Now the specifications typically don't contain more drawings. Instead they contain additional printed instructions needed to complete the job. Information contained in the project specifications that might not be shown on the civil drawings could include things like testing requirements for quality assurance and quality control. Steps for equipment and material placement or detailed material requirements for things like traffic signals or parking lot lighting. Could include a list of materials and equipment that aren't shown in the construction drawings. For example irrigation controls or landscape material requirements. They could have construction sequencing information…
