Putting the personal in PPE

- [Instructor] PPE means personal protective equipment. And I want to emphasize the personal part of that phrase. One size fits all has no place here. People come in all shapes and sizes and when it comes to PPE fitting properly, it's not just a matter of comfort, it's about proper functionality. If a large respirator doesn't fit a smaller person properly, it will not filter out all the air they breathe. If safety glasses don't fit properly, they'll fall off or just not even be worn. Gloves, safety shoes, and boots, high visibility clothing, even things like protective coveralls, they all have to fit properly to function properly and to make sure they don't create another hazard, like loose coverings getting caught or snagged or ripped. I just can't emphasize that enough. Proper sizing is really important here. PPE is also personal in that it's protecting you. That's its function, to protect you. And when you read through…
