Rendering on the GPU
- [Instructor] GPU rendering is in public beta, meaning that if you have NVIDIA graphics hardware, then you can accelerate rendering using the Graphics Processing Unit and save some time, especially for material previews. You may find that if you try to render a complex scene on the GPU, it may actually be slower than the CPU because it takes a long time to get started. Additionally, there are many features that are not currently supported on the GPU, but for a simple scene such as this donut, we can render with a GPU and it will be much, much faster. Interactivity will be noticeably better and it's super helpful when testing materials. Before we try to render on the GPU for the first time, we should run a little utility program to Pre-populate the GPU Cache and this runs a battery of tests on the hardware and saves a bunch of data on your hard drive.
