Good research will reveal the working conditions and environments to be expected and a general knowledge of the types of tools that the trade uses. Equally important is an understanding of how their apprenticeship system works. If it is a union affiliated program, research unions to learn about the benefits that unions provide. The union's website will likely provide some history of their local union and the work that they do within their community. All of this knowledge will ensure the interviewer that you are fully prepared for what lies ahead of you. There are many ways to do research about a construction field. You can checkout content on LinkedIn Learning and do internet searches of the industry. Seek out trades people, both journey workers and apprentices and interview them about their trade.
