- Although retail design is a broad and extensive area of architecture, construction and real estate development. There are several key concepts in designing spaces we should become familiar with. First circulation wayfinding or how people navigate the spaces within a mall or different areas within a store or restaurant is of great importance. Clear and well-designed signage, easy and comfortable circulation paths and logical planning of the sequence of events or merchandise categories will be pivotal in how people orient themselves in your space, how they perceive it and ultimately what their complete experience will be. Second, it is important to understand that retail is more than just a place for goods or services. It's an all encompassing experience where all senses are put to work.
